Heather Herrman is the author of the horror novel Consumption and the Junior Library Guild–selected young adult novel The Corpse Queen. Her most recent novel, Lady or the Tiger, a feminist Western about a female serial killer, was named a Booklist Best Book of the Year, an Audie Award finalist, and selected for the American Library Association’s 2026 Rise: A Feminist Book Project list. Her fiction has received the Frank Waters Prize and an Individual Artist Grant from the Nebraska Arts Council.
Herrman’s fiction blends beauty and the macabre. She loves prairie winds, tales of wicked women, and landscapes that look like they could eat you. She holds an MFA in fiction from New Mexico State University and lives outside Dallas, Texas.
